Both federal and state tax help will be available from
IRS trained volunteers at Northeastern Community
Development Corporation (NCDC) effective January 25,
2005. VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) volunteers
assist low income, elderly, disabled, and non-English
speaking taxpayers (whose income did not exceed $34,692)
with their tax returns. These volunteers received their
training from the IRS in preparation of basic state and
federal tax returns, and they can also complete most of
the common forms and schedules such as the earned income
credit and child tax credit.
Taxpayers
who visit a VITA site should bring this year’s tax
package, all wage and earning statements (Form W-2), all
interest statements (Form 1099-INT), and any other
relevant information about income and expenses.
